“Echo Seminar on Empowering Librarians in the 21st Century”

The Oriental-Occidental Mindoro Librarians Association (OMLA) recently held an "Echo Seminar on Empowering Librarians in the 21st Century" last November 22, 2008, at Jose J. Leido Jr. Memorial National High School, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.

Fifty-four (54) participants working in public and private schools from the core of the place, Calapan City to the farthest municipality of Roxas, Oriental Mindoro attended the said re-echo seminar.

Ms. Marilyn E. Manigbas, the City Education Officer & Adviser of OMLA stressed the important role of the librarian in the library to be a partner of community. She encouraged everyone to make reading a habit.

The three dynamic speakers who shared their knowledge in the different topics were: Miss Merly M. Sarabia, RL, Reference Librarian of Divine Word College of Calapan, who talked about the ABC's of Librarians' Success in the Workplace," Ms. Lina C. Gubgoban, RL, Librarian of Divine Word College of Calapan, shared about the "Collection Building for the Zero Budget Libraries" and Ms. Gilda D. Cusi, RL, Librarian of JJLMNHS discussed the Library Outsourcing & Competencies for Librarians in the 21st Century.
